The job of a Community Liaison was established for the purpose/s of supporting the mental health and safety needs of our students; guiding students and families to appropriate supports by communicating information and responding to inquiries; identifying potential problems regarding welfare, safety and/or security of students, personnel, visitors and school grounds; maintaining safety by enforcing disciplinary policies and regulations; building relationships throughout the school community to improve the climate and culture within each building.

7.0 Hours/Day 195 Days/Year Time: 8:30am-4:00pm
Probationary Pay Rate: $16.32/hr. After 45 worked days, rate increases to $17.09/hr.
Qualifications: High School Diploma or its equivalent. Must have basic skills assessment, pertinent to position qualifications. Selected candidates will be contacted for testing if requirements are not on file with the district.
Basic Responsibilities:
• Attend professional learning opportunities for the purpose of keeping current with de-escalation techniques/strategies and restorative practices.
• Implement de-escalation techniques to support calm resolution to situations and support the mental health and safety needs of students during a crisis.
• Implement restorative practices to help build/rebuild relationships and minimize conflict within the school community.
• Attend meetings as assigned (e.g. appropriate training programs, in-services, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
• Communicate school policies and procedures to students, personnel, and visitors for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning/building environment.
• Escort assigned personnel, visitors, students, etc. for the purpose of providing direction, safety and security.
• Respond to emergency situations for the purpose of addressing immediate safety concerns.
• Patrol and monitor school facilities (e.g. loading and unloading zones, grounds, roads, buildings, parking lots, lavatories, cafeteria, hallways, locker rooms etc.) for the purpose of providing administrative visibility, maintaining security, and deterring questionable activity.
• Supervise small groups of students, as directed by the building administrator(s), in such activities as transition times, detentions, etc. for the purpose of providing a safe, positive, and supervised learning/building environment.
• Provide security at school and district events and emergency situations as assigned (e.g. athletic events, parent-teacher conferences, graduations, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe environment.
• Investigate potential violations of the Student Code of Conduct for the purpose of resolving conflicts and/or referring to administration.
• Prepare documentation (e.g. incident and activity reports, security logs, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
• Maintain regular personal attendance and punctuality for the purpose of ensuring efficient delivery of services to the District. • Occasionally assist other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
