Description

The job of a School Bookkeeper was established for the purpose/s of providing an array of fiscal services for school staff and students; conveying and updating fiscal information; and providing information to appropriate administrators regarding disbursement of funds.

Work Year:

8.0 hours/day
6:30am-3:00pm
221 days/year

Probationary Pay Rate:
$17.76/hr. for 1st 45 Worked Days then increases to $18.31/hr.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or its equivalent. One (1) year of clerical experience. Knowledge of computer bookkeeping preferred. Demonstrated competency in word processing and spreadsheet skills is required. Must have basic skills assessment, pertinent to position qualifications, at 70% on file in the Human Resources Department.  If testing is not on file, selected candidates will be contacted for testing.

 

Basic Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes expenditures against budget for the purpose of determining feasibility of service within budget parameters.
  • Collects funds from student events (e.g. ticket sales, yearbook purchases, athletic letter distribution, etc.) for the purpose of providing the accuracy and timely completion of transactions.
  • Coordinates development of reports (e.g. fundraisers, sales tax, etc.) for the purpose of meeting deadlines and complying with State, district, and federal guidelines.
  • Implements reporting procedures and internal controls for the purpose of maintaining accurate records and complying with the Uniform System of Financial Record keeping, district policies and other regulatory requirement.
  • Informs personnel and/or vendors regarding required documentation and/or procedures (e.g. original invoices, receipts, etc.) for the purpose of conveying information necessary to complete transactions.
  • Maintains a variety of fiscal information, files and records (e.g. accounts payable, accounts receivable, athletics, etc.) for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.
  • Monitors account balances and related financial activity for the purpose of providing that allocations are accurate, related revenues are generated, expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed.
  • Prepares cash deposits from school activities for the purpose of making bank deposits.
  • Prepares written materials (e.g. reports, memos, letters, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.
  • Reconciles account balances for the purpose of maintaining accurate account balances and complying with related policies, practices and/or regulations.
  • Researches discrepancies of financial information and/or documentation (e.g. purchase orders, invoices, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accuracy and adhering to procedures prior to processing for action.
  • Responds to inquiries for the purpose of providing information and/or direction.
  • Maintains regular personal attendance and punctuality for the purpose of ensuring efficient delivery of services to the District.
  • Occasionally assist other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
